Printing Show Books

Printing your show book is a great way to have an easy-to-use paper copy for running your show ringside. There are also a few different print options for posting a paper copy of the class listings on a wall for exhibitors to view as they stand ringside.

Navigating to the Print Page

The link to print your show book can be found by pulling up the show you would like to print from the Show Books Section in the Admin Dashboard.  Reminder - Be sure to double-check all your classes and divisions are set in the Show Book tool before proceeding to print.

  1. Navigate to the Show Books Section
  2. Select the show you would like to print from the dropdown menu at the top.

Printing your show book

Now that you've made it to the print page you are ready to start printing. There are a few different options that you can use when printing. At the side of the page, you will see a print controls panel that gives you a number of options for determining what is printed and how the lists are formatted.

Print Controls

  • Show Champion Classes - If this box is checked then the placeholders for all of the champion classes/drives will be included in the printout. By default, this box is checked.
  • Print Empty Classes - If this box is checked then the classes with no entries will be printed. If you don't want to print out classes without entries you can check this box to remove them. By default, this box is checked.
  • Print Entry First- If this box is checked the classes will list the entry first with the exhibitors name in the second column to the right of the entry.
  • Print Class Numbers - If this box is checked then the class numbers will be shown next to the class name on the printout. Class numbers start at 1 and will continue through all classes including the champion classes. By default, this box is checked.
  • Starting Class Number - This field can be edited change the starting class number.
  • Restart Numbers in each division- If this box is check, each division will start at the starting class #.
  • Class Numbering type- This option will allow you to choose to how you would like your classes to be numbered.

A. Straight Class Numbering- This option will number every class break in order starting with your starting class #.

B. Include # Within the Division: This option will record the class numbers and re- number the division. (For Example, Class 5 Angus Heifers #3.) This will show that this is the 5th class of the show and the 3rd Angus Heifer Class of the Angus Division.

C. Alpha Number Class Breaks: This option will sort each division break with the same class number and different letter. For Example, Class 1A Spring Angus heifers 1/1/23-5/31/23 , Class 1B Spring Angus heifers 1/1/23-5/31/23.

  • Entry Fields - For each show, there will be the option to include any of the fields that were required for entry in the printouts. If you don't want to include a certain field you can uncheck the box. By default, all fields are checked.
  • Label Fields - If this box is checked then the label will be shown for all entry fields. This works well if there are some fields that aren't obvious and a label would help clarify what they are. By default this box is unchecked.
  • Exhibitor Fields - The exhibitor fields are additional fields for the exhibitors that you can choose to include in the printouts. By default, these are unchecked.

Choose your List Type

    • Print Gate List - The gate list is a a simple listing of the classes and entries that can be placed on a wall near the ring for exhibitors to view.
    • Print Ring List - The ring list has more room and works well for someone either in the ring or at ringside who is helping to run the show or record placings. You can include more of the entry fields in the ring list and there is even a place to record the placings on the printout.

Page Breaks

By default, if a class will not all fit at the end of the page, the system will automatically move it to start on the next page. The exception is that very big classes will need to be printed over more than one page. If you want to designate even more page breaks, for example, you only want one class per page, you can use the page break check box to force page breaks at those places. This will force the next class to start on a new page when you print out the list. In the example below: Class 3 - Junior Percentage Does 6-9 Months would start on a new page.

Show Tip

Before you print out your show book, look through the preview that is generated in the print dialog. You can add in a few page breaks to help improve how the classes are printed for better readability.

Preview Show Book

The preview show book option is there for you to view your show books and printouts before the show. All entries will be included in the preview show book regardless of whether they have been checked in at the show or not. This works well for entries shown by age if you would like to print out a preview copy of the show for exhibitors to look at before the show, or if you want to play around with print settings ahead of time to learn the system.

Show Tip

We recommend you play with the print controls and options before your show day so that you know what settings and options you would like to use when printing.
